A Travel Bucket List with Laughter is Catching
My name is Laura, and I have a confession. I’m addicted to travelling, and as I get older its got worse. The more money I earn the more places I want to visit, and despite being newly married (under three weeks ago) we aren’t dreaming of houses with gardens, but extended honeymoons in South East Asia. If the world is your oyster, please can you fill my handbag with them?
So, I thought that today I would share with you my two favourite places to travel, and two places I am desperate to get to this year. In the last twelve months I have seen the sunshine in San Diego, been a native in New York (well, for six weeks at least!), visited Vancouver, fallen in love with Iceland, navigated Norway, popped my Paris cherry and adored Matera in Italy, all while holding down a full time job working with bloggers all over the world (check us out here!)

Iceland was like nothing I expected and everything I imagined all rolled into one. The sun rose at eleven am and set at four pm, and in those sparse daylight hours the rugged, volcanic landscape astounded me. We hunted for the Northern lights, tripped the Golden Circle and visited a geothermal power plant to see how the islanders get their heating. I love the fact that the island has polar opposites; volcanic mountains in the middle with flowing lava and ice caves and glaciers. My favourite part? I’m not going to say the Blue Lagoon, although amazing, but the geysers and Thingvellir (where the two tectonic plates are pulling apart). Iceland, we will meet again.
Matera, Italy
Another one on the not expecting it to be so fantastic sheet, Matera blew my mind. We stayed in the UNESCO protected Sassi in a cave hotel, complete with air conditioning and wifi, and spend a long weekend checking out the set for the remake of Ben Hur and exploring abandoned caves. If you need a European break steeped in history, then try Matera. (read my original post here). But in the spirit of a thirty before thirty list, there are a few places I would love to get to:
Bora Bora

Said to be an ancient geological phenomenon, Bora Bora looks like paradise to me. The white sandy beaches and clear blue waters would be a great place to get through my reading list but at a 26 hour trip from London, I might wait till we move to the States and get a little closer!
Macchu Pichu, Peru

Oh goodness, this one is getting to me. My Dad is off there in June and my sister is due to visit later on in the year, and I have a massive case of the green eyed monster. The Aztecs have always had me enthralled, and so Macchu Pichu is a must see before I die.
How about you? What country sits at the top of your travel bucket list?
